This is an interesting series of notes bearing cartoon illustrations, some with short social and political themed messages, by the artist Berthold Clauss from Altona, a member of the Altonaer Künstlerverein (Altona Artist Association).
Der Altonaer Maler, Grafiker und Bildhauer Berthold Clauss (1882–1969), Sohn des Landschaftsmalers Friedrich August Hermann Clauss, war insbesondere bekannt für seine Tierplastiken. Er studierte 1904/05 in Altona, anschließend bei Kallmorgen in Berlin. Das für Altona entworfene Seriennotgeld mit seinen fast schon karikaturistisch anmutenden Skizzierungen Altonaer Bürger in verschiedenen Alltagssituationen zeigt die charakteristischen grafischen Züge der Arbeit Clauss'. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altonaer_Künstlerverein

Notgeldperiode: Kleingeldscheine 1916-1922 / Serienscheine. Die sogenannten "Serienscheine" der Kleingeldperiode waren im Gegensatz zu den früheren Notgeldausgaben zur echten Beseitigung von Kleingeldmangel nur noch für Sammler bestimmt. Die meisten dieser bunten, mit viel Lokalkolorit versehenen Kleingeld-Scheine kamen nie in den Umlauf. Das Reichsgesetz vom 17. Juli 1922 stoppte mit einem Verbot den Druck dieser Notgeldausgaben.
