Joseph Charles Roettiers (1693-1779), son of Joseph Roettiers, was born in Paris. He learned die engraving from his father and his cousin, Norbert Roettiers. In 1715 he obtained the title of "Graveur des medailles du Roi" and was appointed Engraver General at the Paris Mint in 1727.
