In 47/46 BC. Teos was badly damaged by an earthquake. As this issue is referred to Augustus as emperor (SEBASTOS) and founder (KTISTHS), this may indicate that Augustus provided financial support to rebuild Teos. In adddition there may have been a cult of Augustus as the new founder of the city and his bust was placed in the famous temple of Teos, a shrine of Dionysos.
