Hieropolis in Cilicia, 39-31 BC., Kings, Tarkondimotos, Æ 22, RPC 3871.
Hieropolis in Cilicia, Kings of Eastern Cilicia, Tarkondimotos, 39-31 BC.,
Æ 22 (21-22 mm / 8,12 g),
Obv.: diademed head of Tarkondimotos right; countermark: anchor within incuse oval.
Rev.: [B]AΣIΛEΩΣ - [T]AΡKONΔIMO / TOΥ // [ΦI]ΛANT[ΩNIOY] (in ex.), Zeus Nikephoros enthroned half left, wearing himation, Nike holding wreath extended in his right hand, leaning on long vertical scepter in left.
RPC I, 575, 3871 ; SNG France 1913-6 ; SNG Levante 1257-8 ; Ziegler 876 ; Sear GCV II 5682 ; SNG Copenhagen - ; BMC Cilicia pg. 237, 2-4 ; SNG von Aulock 5413 ; Laffaille 544 .

Tarkondimotos was made dynast by Pompey and crowned king by Marc Antony. He died at the Battle of Actium. The anchor countermark, frequently used in an earlier era by Seleukid kings, is almost certainly post-Actium, perhaps from Antiochia ad Orontem in Syria.
The coins are usually attributed to a mint at Hierapolis, since the capital of the dynasty was there.
