Antoninus Pius, Rome mint, 156 AD.,
Denarius (16-17 mm / 3.53 g),
Obv.: ANTONINVS AV[G P]IVS P P IMP II , laureate bust of Antoninus Pius left, fold of cloak on front shoulder.
Rev.: TR [POT X]IX COS IIII , Annona standing left, holding two wheat ears and resting left hand on modius set on prow .
Strack 292, pl. III (Berlin, same dies) ; BMC 847 note (Ciani List) ; RSC. 983a (a variant of Cohen 983) ; RIC - ( cf. no. 249) .

Very rare with portrait left.

Curtis Clay (author of the original description, see Gemini, LLC Auction III, no. 394): "Yours seems to be from the same dies BOTH SIDES as the Berlin example ... All bust left denarii of Pius after c. 140 are indeed very rare. In 138-9 they are rare too, but more obtainable than the later ones.
