In 1510 Henry VII altered the types of the smaller silver coins by replacing the three-centuries-old cross and pellets by a long cross and shield, while the inscription POSVI DEVM ADIVTOREM MEVM (“I have made God my helperâ€) took the place of the mint legend.
The Krauwinkel family were among the most prolific jeton makers in the world. Hans was active from 1580 to 1615.Copper alloy counters, of coin like design were used on a checkered counting board to do mathematical calculations.
