255-260 AD., Valerian I., Antoninianus, mint of Rome, Göbl 83c
Valerian I., Billon-Antoninianus, 2,81 g., 18-21 mm, mint of Rome, 255-260 AD.
Obv.: IMP C P [LIC VAL]ERIANVS P F AVG , Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Rev.: VICTORIA GERM , Victory standing l., her right hand resting on shield, her left hand holding palm branch.
Göbl 83c, pl. 13 ; RIC - ; Cunetio Hoard 501 (3 specimens).
Curtis Clay: Göbl cites three examples from a single die pair in Cunetio Hoard 501 and comments, "Apparently a die engraver's mixup: the type was intended for the legend VICTORIA AVGG, but VICTORIA GERM was mistakenly engraved instead."
This coin also appears to be from the same pair of dies.
